The Higher Education and Training Awards Council is the legal successor to NCEA. HETAC is the qualifications awarding body for third-level educational institutions outside the university sector. FETAC

As the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland , the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) gives people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or training centres, in the work place and in the community.

IITD

The Irish Institute of Training & Development (IITD) was established in 1969 and is the professional body representing approximately 2,000 professional and student members involved in human resource training and development in Ireland. Members work in all sectors – business, industry, consultancy, voluntary, public sector, education and the community. The mission of the Institute is ‘to ensure (guarantee) best practice in training and development in Ireland by identifying, implementing, and monitoring international standards…providing professional education in training and development…(and) to support members by providing a basis for member certification in a way that enhances continuing professional development and thus employment opportunities’ (www.iitd.ie).


ECDL

ECDL is the global governing body of the world’s leading end-user computer skills certification programme, the European Computer Driving Licence. In Ireland the ECDL programmes are administered by ICS Skills, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Irish Computer Society (ICS), the national body for IT professionals in Ireland. With over 5 million participants, the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the world’s largest vendor-neutral end-user computer skills certification and is internationally recognised as the global benchmark in the area. ‘The ICS supports the continuous development of professional IT knowledge and skills, as well as promoting every citizen’s participation in the Information Society’ (www.ics-skills.ie).


Irish Academy of Public Relations

Irish Academy of Public Relations was founded in 1992 along with its sister college, The Irish Academy. Both colleges specialise in education and training in the field of communications. The Academy’s mission is to provide courses of study and skills based training, at all levels, which are educationally inspiring, comprehensive, contemporary and industry-relevant.



CIPD

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Development is Ireland and the UK's leading professional body for those involved in the management and development of people. With over 130,000 members, CIPD aims to continuously advance the management and development of people to the benefit of individuals, employers and the community at large, be the professional body for those specialising in advancing the management and development of people and be recognised as the leading authority and influence in the field of people management and development.  Membership of CIPD is widely accepted by employers as a requirement and programmes are internationally recognised.



ACELS

The Advisory Council for English Language Schools was established in 1969 under the auspices of the Irish Department of Education & Science to control standards in EFL schools and organisations through an inspection/recognition scheme. ACELS administers the scheme which leads to School Recognition by the Department of Education & Science.  ACELS' remit also includes recognition of teacher training (TEFL) courses and the development of materials and examinations for overseas students.
